Ironman Predictions Review
8/29/2016

How did the "This-Week" predictions do for MX outdoors in Week 12 at Ironman?  Ken Roczen won handily, as expected, but Justin Barcia sprung up to 2nd, which moved each of Eli Tomac and Marvin Musquin down a spot:

Other than not getting the podium right, the other big mistakes were Dean Wilson, Anthony Rodriguez, and Heath Harrison.  Wilson commented that he just had a bad day on the tough track.  Rodriguez had DNFs in both motos. And Harrison had a DNS in Moto 2.  So, all in all, not too bad -- if you exclude Rodriguez and his DNFs, the average prediction was off by about 2 spots.

250 Predictions
For once the 250s results were pretty much in line with the predictions.  A number of DNFs (and one late start by Zach Osborne) caused a bit of chaos.  Austin Forkner had his best pro day yet --coupled with Joey Savatgy having a DNF in Moto 2-- upset the top of the table:

So Savatgy's DNF and Osborne's late start caused 2 of the big misses, but the other one was Mitchell Harrison logging 10 / 6 for 7th overall (compared to predicted 13th) -- 6th is Harrison's best moto finish in his rookie pro season, and 7th is his best overall.  Marshal Weltin failed to make the Top 20 because of a DNF in Moto 1 and DNS in Moto 2.  If you excuse Weltin's result due to the DNF/DNS, the average 250 prediction result was off by less than 3 spots, which isn't great but is better than normal for the 250s.

A recap of the full-season predictions is next, to be posted sometime in the middle of this week.
